The following is the law on 39:5C-1 with all amendments as of April, 2004:
39:5C-1. Racing or making of speed records; penalty A person who shall operate or attempt or agree to operate a motor vehicle on a public highway in a race with any other motor vehicle or for the purpose of making a speed record or who shall arrange for, manage, encourage, or assist in, the holding of, or the attempting to hold, any such race or speed race event, is a disorderly person, and, upon conviction, shall be punished by a fine of not less than $25.00 nor more than $100.00 for the first offense and for each subsequent offense a fine of not less than $100.00 nor more than $200.00 or by imprisonment for not more than 90 days or both.
The Judge can also suspend the driver's license: 39:5-31. Revocation of driver's license by director or magistrate The director or any magistrate before whom any hearing under this subtitle is had may revoke the license of any person to drive a motor vehicle, when such person shall have been guilty of such willful violation of any of the provisions of this subtitle as shall, in the discretion of the magistrate, justify such revocation.
CONCLUSION
